About
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1997, Polly Sutherland is an artist interested in the unseen aspects of the natural world. A graduate in both a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Lancaster University and an MA in Art in Science from Liverpool John Moores University, she specialises in detailed drawings of microscopic and botanical forms, working with both graphite and coloured pencil.
Polly actively uses social media for dissemination and promotion of the transdisciplinary practice of art and science, as well as the boundaries of botanical art today, on which she wrote her postgraduate thesis.
She has developed the Pollen Project, in which she aims to illustrate a vast number of pollen grains, through field investigation, microscopy and illustration.
